Mechanical Installations

Mechanical installation is a broad term for any system with moving parts. This could include gearboxes, conveyor belts, coupling, bearings, motors and many more. As mechanical parts begin to fail or misalign it is very common that friction causes an incremental gain in heat that can be detected by a thermal imaging camera. Under thermal imaging overheating elements become immediately noticeable allowing pre-emptive action to be taken.

Best practice for mechanical installations is to save a thermal image of the system in its default working state. By taking regular snap-shots of the system with your camera you will be able to see any heat increase via a change in colour of the component indicating the overheating part of the system.
