Electrical Systems

One of the most common uses for thermal imaging camera is the inspection of electrical systems or specific electrical components. As electricity passes through resistant components it generates heat. Over time the resistance in components can increase due to corrosion and wear on the system. As the resistance increases so does the heat. This becomes a circular process as the heat can then cause the component to become further compromised.

High and low voltage systems follow the same principles making thermal imaging useful for large industrial applications all the way down to low voltage systems in almost any workplace. Thermal imaging cameras offer a safe method of observing the system whilst it is running without touching dangerous components. As shown below, important connections can be observed with a clear indication of excessive heat build-up giving you a clear indication that a connection is damaged or faulty in some capacity.

Importantly this lets you address the issue before it becomes a problem. It can allow you to stop outages before they happen, avoid dangerous overheating that could result in fires and most importantly keep personnel safe.
